Nestled in the Northwest corner of Indiana, on the outskirts of Chicagoland, is the place we call home. A place that we grew up and are proud of. NWI gives us the opportunity to chase our dreams and teach our young children the love of farming, family, and community that our grandfathers Javier Garibay, Ed Howe, and Robert Staley instilled in us at a young age. We were blessed to be taught these values by men who grew up farming and loving those around them.
We strive to be a truly Family Farm. We work day in and day out with our family and friends and create memories that will last a lifetime. There is no other job that has 4 generations working together on any given day. In the winter of 2013 we re-established Howe Farms on the land our family had farmed since 1851. We started with the goal of creating a place and an atmosphere where our family could work and learn from one another for generations to come.
This love for our family and our community has blossomed into a conscious effort to be as local as possible. We take pride in growing local hops, and knowing the brewers we work with. The face to face interactions that occur when you buy local are just as important as the economic impacts of buying local.
Our farm is just like the hops...growing daily. Every day we come up with a new idea or plan for our future. Whether we are expanding the hopyard or making maple syrup or chasing around chickens, you can bet that we are doing something to continue our growth.
The bottom line is that we are living our dream with the family and community we love.
Thank you for following our journey,
Steve and Jenn Howe
